Metal-Ceramic Crowns

Metal-ceramic crowns are a classic and widely used restorative treatment method that combines a durable metal substructure on the inside with a porcelain (ceramic) coating on the outside to enhance tooth strength. This system has been providing both aesthetic and functional solutions for many years and is especially valued for its durability in posterior (back) teeth.

Advantages:

  • Long-lasting performance in the back regions thanks to its strong structure
  • A more cost-effective crown option
  • Resistant to fractures and chewing forces

However, in terms of translucency and light transmission, metal-ceramic crowns are less aesthetic compared to full-ceramic options like E-max or zirconia. In some cases, a grayish reflection near the gum line may appear over time, which could be a drawback for patients with high aesthetic expectations.

At our clinic, the most suitable type of crown is determined by our expert dentists based on each patient’s oral anatomy, aesthetic goals, and functional needs.
